Install Latest Virtualbox on Ubuntu 13.4/13.10 from Official Repository


This simple tutorial is going to show you how to install Latest Virtualbox and receive updates on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy, 13.04 Raring, 12.04 Precise.
To get started, press Ctrl+Alt+T to open terminal and follow below steps:
1.) Copy and paste this command into terminal and hit run to add the repository:
sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian $(lsb_release -sc)  contrib" >> /etc/apt/sources.list'
2.) Download and install the key:
wget -q http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/oracle_vbox.asc -O- | sudo apt-key add -
3.) Update:
sudo apt-get update
4.) Install the Virtualbox:
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-4.2


Jupiter is available for Ubuntu 13.04 from JoliCloud PPA Repository

As you may know, Jupiter is a powerful and lightweight power and hardware control applet. It has been retired and last supported release is up to Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal. However, Jupiter is available for Ubuntu 13.04 from JoliCloud Desktop Environment PPA.


The webupd8team add the packages to the ppa and it’ll be used as a background program for JoliCloud session. I’ve installed it on my laptop and it’s working well.
Install Jupiter on Ubuntu 13.04:
Press Ctrl+Alt+T on your keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, run below command to add the PPA repository:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jolicloud-team/ppa
Then update package lists and install:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install jupiter
To install Jupiter support package for Eee PCs:
sudo apt-get install jupiter-support-eee

Install / Upgrade LibreOffice 4.1 in Ubuntu 13.04, 12.04 via PPA

LibreOffice 4.1 has been officially released. It’s available for Ubuntu 13.04 Raring and 12.04 Precise users from the main LibreOffice PPA repository.

LibreOffice 4.1 features a large number of improvements in the area of document compatibility, which increases the opportunities of sharing knowledge with users of proprietary software while retaining the original layout and contents. New Features:
  • Rotate images in Writer in 90 degree increments
  • Writer, Calc and Impress now allow embedding fonts in their documents.
  • It is now easy to include a series of photos in Impress with the “Photo Album” feature.
  • Add a Stepped Lines line type to Line and XY (Scatter) graphs
  • Especially for migrations, LibreOffice adds a number of significant improvements of interoperability with MS Office formats.

Install LibreOffice 4.1:
Press Ctrl+Alt+T on your keyboard to open terminal. When it opens, run below commands to add the LibreOffice Main repository.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
After that, update your package lists and install the office suit. To do so, run below command:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Tor Browser Bundle 2.3.25-10 for GNU/Linux Released - PPA Available for Ubuntu/Linux Mint

In this tutorial, we will see how to install Tor Browser Bundle 2.3.25-10 in Ubuntu/Linux Mint from PPA which is compatible with these distributions:
  • Ubuntu 13.04/12.10/12.04
  • Linux Mint 15/14/13

Here are some of the new features in this latest release:
  • Update Firefox to 17.0.7esr
  • Update zlib to 1.2.8
  • Update HTTPS Everywhere to 3.2.2
  • Update NoScript to 2.6.6.6

Tor Browser Bundle 2.3.25-10 Installation:
1. 32-bit/i386:
Open the terminal and enter these commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/tor 
sudo apt-get update 
sudo apt-get install tor-browser 
sudo chown $USER -Rv ~/.tor-browser/
2. 64-bit/amd64:
Run these commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/tor64 
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install tor-browser
sudo chown $USER -Rv ~/.tor-browser/

Install Nitrux OS Icons (3.0.7) From PPA in Ubuntu/Linux Mint

The famous Nitrux OS icon theme has been updated recently to version 3.0.7 which brings these new changes:
- Revised Icons: Symbolic icons [for elementary OS], Gnome Online Accounts, Lockscreen in Gnome Control Center/Switchboard, Google, Calculator, Various actions.

- Fixes: Fixed Krita and Kexi not displaying correct icons.

- New Icons: Birdie [+custom icons], eStudio (Baseline), Pomidor, Agenda, Footnote, Geary [custom icons], Kamoso, Kaddressbook, Various KDE preferences categories, Gazette, Ark.


The PPA is available for these Ubuntu/Linux Mint distros:

  • Ubuntu 13.04/12.10/12.04

Installation:

Open the terminal and issue these commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/nitrux

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install nitruxos 

To enable Nitrux, use GNOME TWEAK TOOL or enter this command:


gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'NITRUX'

The buttonized version of Nitrux can be enabled with this command:


gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'NITRUX-Buttons'

To know your os type hit super then write "Details".

Download the correct version for your computer, then go download directory.
Open new terminal CTRL + ALT + T:
cd Downloads
sudo dpkg -i sublime-text_build-3047_amd64.deb
Okay now you have to install a hex editor called gvim

Open new terminal CTRL + ALT + T:
sudo apt-get install vim-gnome
sudo gvim
